Saab GB goes into administration

• Saab GB in voluntary administration
• No new cars built since April
• 58 dealers face uncertainty
Saab Great Britain has gone into administration following its parent company’s continued difficulties.
Vehicle production in Sweden has been on hold since April, while further funding has been sought, but not found.
The UK is Saab’s largest European market outside Sweden and Saab GB employs 55 people in Milton Keynes.
There are 58 sites in the UK’s Saab dealer network, 20 of which are exclusive to Saab. A subsidiary of Saab GB employing 65 people called Saab City will also be affected. It operates two Saab dealerships in Wapping and Fulham.
Dealers will be contacting customers who have a Saab on order to offer them the choice between keeping their order in place or cancelling it.
New Saabs located on UK dealer forecourts are available for sale as normal, while servicing will also continue to be offered.
Saab GB’s administrators are currently in talks with Saab’s Swedish parent company to establish if warranties for UK cars will continue to be honoured.
Third-party provider Warranty Direct is currently offering Saab owners 25 per cent off one of its own comprehensive warranties. The discount is available for all Saab models less than three years-old.
