World famous styling house Pininfarina is to unveil an incredible one-off ‘Hyperion’ Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe.

The ‘Hyperion’ is a homage to pre war classic cars and will be debuted at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance – the most prestigious classic car show in North America.

Commissioned by a private client, the ‘Hyperion’ looks set to be the star of event when it opens its gates on August 17.

And, if you want to see it closer to home it will be on display at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Photographed in London’s glitzy West End recently was a unique £500k Rolls Royce custom coupe.

The car was built by DC Designs and is rumoured to belong to the Sultan of Brunei’s family.

Pininfarina’s choice of the ‘Hyperion’ name pays tribute to a mythological Greek titan – fitting giving the cars enormous stature and the muscle under its bonnet.

The standard Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe is powered by a 6.75-litre V12 engine with more than 450bhp and 531lb/ft of pulling power on tap.

That’s enough power to propel the big two-seater from 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds and to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.

It’s one of the world’s most expensive cars on sale – Auto Trader recently advertised a 2,000 mile example costing £399,950.

The ‘Hyperion’ Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe is expected to cost more than £1m.

Pininfarina’s last unique customer project was the incredible P4/5 supercar based on a Ferrari Enzo – it was completed in 2006 at a rumoured cost of $2.5m.
