The first trailers for the forthcoming series of Top Gear have appeared on TV – with the presenters on typically good form.

In the trailer for the 11th series of Top Gear, hosts James May, Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and tame racing driver The Stig are deciding what should appear in the advert for the first episode.

True to character, the sensible one James May is championing money saving ideas to represent the credit crunch, Richard Hammond seems to be inspired by the film Speed and Clarkson is obsessed with power.

And then Hammond finishes the advert of with a stunning animal-related idea.

Andy Wilman, the show’s producer recently gave hints on what will appear in the new series of Top Gear.

He wrote on his blog they’ll be ‘tackling rural issues such as fox hunting and fascist ramblers’ while ‘Jeremy also has an ingenious plan for improving police cars’.

There will also be a race in Japan – we’re guessing it might involve the Bugatti Veyron-beating Nissan GT-R supercar against the 275mph Shinkansen – also known as the bullet train.

Top Gear has become one of the BBC’s biggest successes of recent times with the show never short of controversy.

The team were slammed by environmentalists for driving across the world’s largest salt plain in Africa, while many anti-speed campaigners called for the show to be banned after Richard Hammond was involved in a 288mph Dragster smash while filming.

But this has fuelled the show’s popularity – which is watched as much by car lovers and viewers wanting to be entertained.

Jeremy Clarkson has previously attributed to the show’s large viewing figures on the fact there’s nothing else on at 8pm on a Sunday night.

But this hasn’t stopped the show winning countless awards including an Emmy for best non-scripted show – despite being scripted.

The 11th series of Top Gear begins on June 22 – in the mean time check out the hilarious trailers.
