Set in Liberty City, a seedy gangland world based on New York, Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA 4) revolves around Niko Bellic, an Eastern European looking to find fortune in America.

But the real stars of GTA 4 are the cars, as many missions will involve high-speed chases and other exhilarating stunts.

Developer Rockstar Games has included a plethora of cars based on real-life models for the player to drive.

Car: Comet
Based on: BMW Z4, Porsche 911 and Maserati GT

Liberty City’s top sports car comes in the form of the Comet – a unique mixture of what could be a BMW Z4, Porsche 911 and Maserati GT. Expect the Comet to be a great getaway car with nimble handling and exhilarating speed.

Car: Dillettante
Based on: Toyota Prius and Ford Focus ECOnetic

One of the first hybrid cars ever to grace a Grand Theft Auto game, the Dillettante bears striking resemblance to the Toyota Prius – and is partially similar to the Ford Focus. It will probably be found along busier, inner-city roads.

Car: Feltzer
Based on: Volkswagen Eos and Mercedes CLS 63 AMG convertible

The Feltzer looks like a cross between the Volkswagen Eos and Mercedes CLS 63 AMG convertible, and if it’s anything like its potential real-life counterparts, it’ll be fast.

The AMG can hit 62mph from standing in 4.5 seconds, so the Feltzer should make a great car for driving across winding country roads with virtual wind in your hair.

Car: Untitled
Based on: Chrysler 300C

This four-door nameless saloon has strong similarities with the executive Chrysler 300C, making it perfect for chauffeur-based missions. You’re likely to find it in showrooms or outside expensive pent-house suites.

Car: Huntley
Based on: Land Rover Discovery and Cadillac Escalade

No GTA game would be complete without a hulking SUV to stand out from the crowd, and the latest instalment is no different. This 4x4, likely to be known as the Landstalker or Huntley, appears to draw its looks from the Land Rover Discovery and the Cadillac Escalade.
