Half price Lamborghinis on Auto Trader
13 October 2008 To celebrate the launch of the new Lamborghini, Vijay Pattni rounds up the top bargain Lamborghinis you can buy on Auto Trader NOW. Lamborghini Countach
Ferrucio Lamborghini’s brief was brutally simple – he wanted a mid-engined V12 supercar which was faster than the Miura it replaced. A concept Countach debuted at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, and the final production version appeared in 1974, sporting a 4-litre V12 engine and 375bhp delivered at a screaming 8,000rpm. The Countach can hit 60mph from rest in just 5.6 seconds, and would sail past 170mph when pushed flat out. And the Lamborghini Countach introduced the world to one of the company’s most defining features – the famous upwards-opening ‘scissor’ style doors, now known simply as ‘Lambo’ doors. Lamborghini Diablo
And this would be one of the defining Lamborghinis – the Diablo was launched in 1990 and was powered by a 5.7-litre V12 engine developing 492bhp – which translated into a 0-60mph time of four seconds. And Jay Kay – lead singer of Jamiroquai – was so taken with the Diablo, he included the sound of its V12 engine on one of his songs. Lamborghini Gallardo
Apparently so – and this baby is the most popular Lamborghini ever, with over 5,000 models produced to date. The Lamborghini Gallardo is the Murcielago’s little brother, and features an astonishing 5-litre V10 engine producing 520bhp and four-wheel-drive, meaning a 0-62mph time of less than four seconds. And Lamborghini have rolled out even faster versions of this Lambo – including the 530bhp Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera edition. Find a used Lamborghini Gallardo on Auto Trader
Lamborghini Murcielago
Named after a famous fighting bull – which bore 24 sword strokes and still never gave up – the Murcielago, which featured in this year's Batman film The Dark Knight, is powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine developing 640bhp. This means the 0-62mph sprint takes just 3.3 seconds and flat out, the Lambo will hit speeds of more than 220mph. Early Lamborghini Murcielagos came with a 6.2-litre V12 engine producing 570bhp, and there are rumours of an SV version with more power than the super-exclusive Lamborghini Reventon… Find a used Lamborghini Murcielago on Auto Trader View our EXCLUSIVE Lamborghini slide show
