World’s rarest supercar for sale

One of the world’s rarest and most expensive supercars has appeared for sale on Auto Trader.

The Cambridgeshire built Mosler MT900 is the road going version of one of the front runners of the British GT race series and has featured at the Le Mans 24 hours.

Normally sold with a 5.6-litre engine, this car is fitted with a one-off 7-litre V8 powerplant, producing a claimed 585bhp – in a car weighing as much as a Ford Fiesta.

Its well-heeled previous owner has covered just 4,000 miles, after having the car built to take part in a London to Monte Carlo cruise called The Supercar Run.

If you can change gear fast enough 0-60mph takes just over 3 seconds and on a track or drag strip, you can race from 0-100mph in a gut wrenching 8 seconds.

The Mosler MT900 is low, wide and light thanks to being constructed using materials pioneered in Formula One.

Similarities to a race car don’t end there – if you manage to get low enough to look under the Mosler you will see it is completely flat underneath.

The smooth underside accelerates air under the car creating an area of low pressure, pinning it to the ground at high speed and offering massive grip and stability.

But this isn’t just a car for the track, its suspension has been set up to cope with normal road use and there are creature comforts including air-conditioning, sat-nav, an alarm and lustrous paintwork.
