Lewis Hamilton has had two tough races – crashing in Canada and picking up a penalty in France. Can he bounce back in front of his home crowd? The Stevenage star reckons he can. He said: “The fans mean a hell of a lot to me, and for sure they’re going to be disappointed about the last couple of races, just as the team are, but there’s no need to be angry. “I’m on form, I’m not driving into walls. The reason I’m so quick is because I’m pushing my car, and the car is great, the team’s doing a good job, and I think I’m extracting a lot from it. That’s all I can do.” The McLaren driver set the fastest time in testing last week, lapping Silverstone in 1m 19.170 seconds with Timo Glock’s Toyota second on a 1m 19.815 seconds. Are you going to the British Grand Prix? Have your say on the Auto Trader Blog The race is a sell-out on all three days so stay at home if you don’t have a ticket. Silverstone has loads of exciting viewing opportunities including the ultra-fast Copse (see diagram right) and Becketts. Incredibly, these first sequences are taken flat-out by F1 cars at speeds nudging 180mph. Further around the track Abbey is a good place to see some overtaking. What else should I do at the track? Don’t miss the excellent GP2 support races on Saturday after F1 qualifying and Friday before the race. There are plenty of other races on over the weekend, and don’t forget the traditional air display from the Red Arrows before the start of the race.
