Batman Forever star Val Kilmer will voice the new K.I.T.T in the upcoming Knight Rider TV feature.

The star stepped in after Arrested Development actor Will Arnett was forced to give up the role of KITT – the talking car.

The all-new Knight Rider TV film will be screened on 17 February on American network NBC and will feature Justin Bruening as Mike Tracer.

The series’ original star David Hasselhoff will make a cameo appearance in the new Knight Rider as Michael Knight.

The producers of the show have used the top-of-the-range Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 KR.

The Shelby Mustang GT500KR KITT has a 540bhp 5.4-litre V8 engine – and is one of the fastest Mustangs ever built.

Hollywood car builder Galpin Auto Sports was commissioned to build the new KITT from the Shelby Mustang.

Six GAS designers were given only a week to complete the first KITT and worked non-stop on its transformation.

One of the three cars used in the TV film - ‘Attack’ KITT – was designed by Harold Belker, responsible for the special vehicles in Batman and Robin, Spider-Man, Minority Report and Superman.
