Hot new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution– first pics
25 September 2007
Mitsubishi has released the first pictures of its all new super-saloon – the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. Ahead of its official launch at the 2007 The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution plays host to a slew of styling changes differing from the outgoing car’s boxy shape. The car will feature a turbocharged 2-litre engine producing nearly 300bhp and will lay this power onto the floor via a four-wheel drive system, called Super All Wheel Drive Control. Expect a 0-62mph (100kph) time of around 5 seconds and a top speed of 160mph. The new Lancer Evolution X will also house a variety of technical wizardry to ensure the driver retains optimum control throughout difficult driving conditions, including active braking control, active skid control, and roll control suspension technologies.
The power will be channelled for the first time through a six-speed semi-automatic gearbox, while buyers can also opt for a conventional five speed manual ‘box. Like the new BMW M3, the Evo will feature lightweight roof and body panels, made from aluminium, to aid handling. Expect to pay around £35,000 when the Evolution X goes on sale next year.
