Barbara Wakerell received the quote for fully comprehensive cover on her 12-year-old Vauxhall Corsa, according to moneysavingexpert.com.
She used a variety of price comparison services and cashback sites to grab the ultra-cheap premium.
After shopping around she found a lower-priced policy of £120.96, which came with its own cashback of £70, bringing the cost down to £50.96.
Barbara then bought the policy through a cashback site (quidco.com), which gave her another £50 discount, slashing the total amount to 96p.
Her previous policy would have cost her £145. That's a saving of 99.3 per cent!
Barbara said: "I'm always looking for a bargain so when I found my car insurance for £120.96, I thought I was doing well.
"But when I also got £120 cashback, I realised I had done really, really well. Can anyone beat that?"
