Sportiest Maserati Quattroporte unveiled in Detroit
13 January 2009
Following the Jaguar XFR’s launch at Detroit is another super-saloon – the Maserati Quattroporte GT S.
The Italian car maker unveiled its Quattroporte GT S – the performance-topping model in the four-door saloon’s range.
The 4.7-litre V8 engine has been tuned to produce 434bhp.
This will give the striking four-door saloon a 0-62mph time of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 174mph – the same as the S, but 7mph more than the standard ‘Porte.
To differentiate the S and GT S, Maserati has given the latter a stiffer and lower suspension while the sports exhaust gets a deeper, throatier sound.
Cosmetically, the GT S gets a new black grille, new headlights and ‘M-design’ seats with perforated Alcantara and leather upholstery.
There is no word on price as yet, but expect the GT S to cost around £90,000 – a £5,000 premium over the GT model.
