Special edition 740bhp Porsche Cayenne
24 April 2009
In the latest example of tuning house one-upmanship Gemballa has unveiled its Cayenne-based Tornado 750 GTS.
And we’re intimidated by this thing, a lot.
Gemballa has taken a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, increased the 4.8-litre engine to 5-litres and fitted twin-turbochargers to create a 740bhp beast.
Weight has been slashed by 250kgs, equivalent to two WWF wrestlers.
The result is 0-62mph in a sports car-shaming 4.3 seconds and top speed of 186mph.
Gemballa has fitted 420mm brake discs on the front and 380mm on the rear to bring the Cayenne to a halt. The mammoth discs nestle behind 22-inch alloy wheels.
Production for the £360,000 Gemballa Tornado 750 GTS is limited to 50. That’s a lot given the state of the economy – and it’s not short of rivals.
Mansory unveiled its outrageous Chopster model at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
While boasting 30bhp less than the Gemballa, Mansory claim the Chopster will hit 187mph.
If you want a more sober looking SUV with supercar power, then BMW has just released details of its 555bhp X5M and X6M models.
And Land Rover has also got in on the act, fitting its Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models with the supercharged 500bhp V8 found in the Jaguar XKR.
