New Ford C-Max: first pics and video
04 September 2009
Ford has announced plans to unveil a new version of its C-Max compact MPV at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
These are the first images of the new Ford C-Max which borrows its design cues from the Iosis Max concept car.
The Iosis Max was first revealed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. It's powered by a 180bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine, with emissions predicted to be as low as 125g/km.
Ford has confirmed the new C-Max will also include a 1.6-litre 'EcoBoost' petrol engine, along with semi-automatic parallel parking and a blind-spot detection system.
The British car maker hasn't said whether the CO2 emissions for the C-Max will match that of the Iosis Max. If it does, the C-Max will fall into car tax band D at £120 per year.
Ford has labelled the C-Max a compact multi-activity vehicle (MAV) and says it features "a coupe-like, sweeping roofline while retaining the established Ford C-MAX hallmarks of comfort, space, and practicality."
It's the first in a new line of C-segment Fords scheduled for release over the next few years, including a new Ford Focus in late 2010.
The new Ford C-Max will be launched in the second half of 2010.
Expect more details to be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15.
