Mercedes McLaren SLR Stirling Moss for sale
26 October 2009
Two brand-new Mercedes McLaren SLR Stirling Mosses are for sale on Auto Trader for £690,000 each.
Built as a last hurrah for the brilliant Mercedes SLR, the Stirling Moss is a super-hard version of an already hardcore hypercar.
While the Stirling Moss lacks a windscreen and roof, it doesnt lack presence its a fantastically imposing machine.
Made entirely of carbon fibre, the Merc built in Woking at the McLaren headquarters uses a 5.4-litre supercharged V8 engine which develops 650bhp and 605lb/ft of pulling power.
As a result, it will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 217mph, making it the fastest production SLR ever.
The speedster has been built to celebrate Mercedes' partnership with British motor racing legend, Stirling Moss, who won the 1955 Mille Miglia a 1,000 mile Italian road race in an original 300SLR.
Just 75 will ever be built with the final models rolling off the production line at the moment.
The silver and black models are being offered by Nash Konig Performance and Prestige Vehicles.
Karl Johnson, who used to head up the international sales at the Auto Konig City Showroom in Munich, is the man behind Nash Konig and can get access to practically any luxury motor.
Alongside these limited edition Mercs, Nash Konig is also selling a Ferrari FXX, Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini Reventon.
But the most impressive motor they have access to is a Lamborghini Reventon Roadster which can be delivered in December with a price available on request.
