Mean green 530bhp Alpina B6 GT3 revealed
11 February 2009
BMW tuner Alpina has unveiled details of its hardcore race-going B6 GT3 ahead of its Geneva debut.
Based on the BMW 6 Series, the Alpina B6 GT3 is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine developing 530bhp and 535lb/ft of pulling power.
This enables a 0-62 time of 3.9 seconds, while a measured top speed of 176mph was achieved at the Nürburgring race track in Germany.
The power is channelled to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox with a set of 18-inch alloy wheels on Michelin tyres putting the power on the tarmac.
To increase downforce and make the B6 GT3 a mean handling machine, Alpina has fitted an enormous spoiler and rear diffuser while the car’s suspension and bodykit are so low it practically scrapes the ground.
Inside, the B6 GT3 is practically gutted, featuring a full roll cage, all helping to keep weight down to just 1,350kg – the same as the BMW 3 Series.
The Alpina B6 GT3 will compete in the FIA GT3 European Championships up against the likes of the Audi R16.
We’ll be reporting live from Geneva when the wraps are taken off the Alpina B6 GT3 so don’t forget to come back for the full details.
