03 September 2008 The world’s only right-hand drive Koenigsegg CCX-R Edition is for sale on Auto Trader – for £1.5 million. This Koenigsegg CCX-R Edition is the most expensive car to ever appear on Auto Trader – costing £450,000 more than a Bugatti Veyron currently for sale. And we believe the 1,018bhp hypercar is the world’s most expensive production car the world has ever seen. Swedish car maker Koenigsegg is only making six CCX-R Editions with this model the only one expected to be built in right-hand drive. Under the carbon fibre body of the CCX-R is a 4.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine tuned to run on environmentally-friendly biofuel which develops 1,018bhp and 796lb/ft of pulling power. This gives the Koenigsegg CCX-R Edition claimed performance figures of 0-62mph (100kph) in 2.9 seconds and 0-124mph (200kph) in 8.75 seconds before hitting a top speed of 254mph. Stopping power is just as impressive, with the car reaching 0-124-0mph in 13.5 seconds and braking from 62-0mph in just 32 metres. With all this performance come stifling running costs, with the CCX-R averaging just 12.8mpg. However, this is unlikely to deter the Koenigsegg’s likely buyer who will be willing to fork out £1.5 million for the unique hypercar. (To view more photos, click on the image below) Features on the Koenigsegg CCX-R Edition include 380mm ceramic front disc brakes, 19-inch alloys at the front and 20-inch at the rear and a g-force reader. While it’s 4.3 metres long and 1.99 metres wide, it weighs 1,280kg – 40kg more than a 1.6-litre Ford Focus, but with ten times the power. It’s ground clearance is just 100mm, but when approaching awkward speed bumps, the driver can activate a lifting system which raises the CCX-R to 145mm. The Koenigsegg CCX-R is for sale on Auto Trader through Gloucestershire-based prestige car dealer Broughtons who specialise in the sales of rare Europeans supercar marques such as Spyker, Zagato and Koenigsegg. Other cars in the company’s stock include a £339,000 Koenigsegg CCR and four Spyker C8s costing between £179,000 and £197,950. It will be arriving in the UK on September 29 for just ten days before being flown to Malaysia to see a prospective buyer.
