Hot new 211mph Spada Codatronca TS
15 May 2008 Watch out Pagani Zonda – this is the hot new Italian supercar dubbed the Spada Codatronca TS. The Batmobile-like Spada Codatronca TS is the product of new Italian supercar maker Spada Vetture Sport, which made its world debut at last month’s Top Marques show in Monaco. And in true supercar fashion, the stunning new Spada Codatronca TS sports a 7-litre V8 engine made from aluminium producing 630bhp – nearly matching the £800,000 Ferrari Enzo. View more images of the Spada Codatronca TS This means the bonkers Italian supercar can sprint from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and on to an estimated top speed of 211mph. The Spada reigns in the 630bhp using 380mm eight-piston brakes which sit behind a set of 19-inch cross-spoke OZ alloy-wheels. Spada is also offering up a bioethanol-powered engine in the hardcore Codatronca TS. Bioethanol is a more explosive fuel and will hike up the Spada’s power. The Spada Codatronca TS is the brainchild of Ercole and Paolo Spada; a father and son team who have designed cars for Zagato, BMW, Smart and Honda. The Codatronca TS – Turismo Sportivo – features a chassis built from aluminium together with a roll cage to offer the maximum protection on the track – giving a hint to the car’s handling focus. Thanks to the aluminium chassis and carbon-fibre body, the Spada weighs just 1.3 tonnes – less than the new BMW M3 convertible and the same as the Ferrari Enzo. But Spada has built in everyday practicality into the 7-litre 630bhp Codatronca TS, by adding a massive 400-litre boot space – more than a Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus – a customisable suitcase set and a “bright and roomy” cockpit with air-conditioning, full-stereo system and a rear-view camera for reversing. Prices for the Spada Codatronca TS have not been announced yet, but its limited production run should mean it competes with the likes of the Pagani Zonda and Ferrari Enzo, and should launch at the end of 2008. |
