Geneva 2009 debut: Bentley Continental Supersports
The wraps are off the Bentley Continental Supersports – the fastest, most powerful Bentley ever.
And despite the fact it packs 620bhp and has a top speed of 204mph, Bentley claims the Continental Supersports is green because it can run on E85 biofuel.
Kind of green anyway thanks the way biofuel crops remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere during photosynthesis.
The 20bhp increase and 110kg weight loss over the Conti GT Speed ensures the Supersports will accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds – 0.5 seconds quicker than the Speed.
This moves it away from ‘luxury cruiser’ to ‘bona fide supercar’ and we’re particularly big fans of the fact the rear seats have been removed – clearly showing Bentley’s sporting intent.
Carbon dioxide emissions are 388g/km while the big Bentley will average 17.3mpg.
It’s stiffer, lower and more aggressive than the standard Conti with flared wheel arches housing 20-inch lightweight alloys and the world’s biggest ceramic disc brakes fitted to a production car.
The Supersports is sure to alert the Bentley-mad Manchester United team whose fondness of the Crewe-built supercar is well-documented.
More than ten of United’s stars currently own Continentals – and with footballers famed for their one-upmanship expect to see a couple of these popping up at Old Trafford on match day later on this year.
