Rolls-Royce has released full details of the new Ghost prior to its official launch at next week’s motor show in Frankfurt.

The luxury carmaker has confirmed the new car will have an on-the-road price of £192,500 and will make its way to the first customers in the UK before Christmas.

The Ghost, despite being the smallest Rolls-Royce in the range, will be the most powerful the manufacturer has ever produced, with the 6.6-litre V12 engine possessing a stunning 563bhp.

The Ghost will also lay claim to the title of being the most efficient and cleanest Roller on sale, but it still emits a mammoth 317g/km of CO2 and claims an average of just 20.8mpg.

However, the immense 82.5 litre fuel tank means owners should be able to go a full 376 miles between fill-ups.

The passenger remains one of the most important elements for the new Ghost, with a high level of kit available as standard and on the options list.

Four-zone air-conditioning means that all occupants of the car can travel in comfort, while two Rolls-Royce umbrellas are found in the front doors.

For owners that want to add a little more luxury to their car, they can choose from options such as massaging seats, a cool-box with champagne glasses, leather veneered picnic tables and a lambswool carpet.

Rolls-Royce said the driver is of great importance in the Ghost as well.

“Our challenge has been to preserve the prerequisite levels of comfort while delivering the most modern, dynamically interesting drive ever in a Rolls-Royce,” said engineering director Helmut Riedl.

A series of electronic driver aids have been included, such as a lane departure warning system, a night vision camera and a cornering speed limiter that kicks in should the driver be taking a bend at too high a speed.

Rolls-Royce expects the Ghost and the current Phantom to sell around 2500 a year together, with the Ghost accounting for approximately half.

As a result the company is boosting the staff numbers at its Goodwood base by 50 per cent to deal with the extra workload.
