This is the Edo Competition Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 – a tuned version of the hot Italian hypercar looking to become the fastest ever Lambo.

In standard guise, the £196,000 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 produces 640bhp and 487lb/ft of pulling power from its 6.5-litre V12 engine – giving it a top speed of 211mph.

But after German tuning house Edo Competition has adjusted the exhaust system, fitted new air filters and reprogrammed the engine’s computer, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 now develops 710bhp and 516lb/ft of pulling power – more than the one million euro Lamborghini Reventon.

It’s claimed the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 will now accelerate from 0-62mph (100kph) in 3.2 seconds and 0-124mph (200kph) in less than ten seconds.

With a few aerodynamic adjustments to the rear wing, Edo Competition has calculated its Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 will reach a top speed of 224mph when it’s tested on Nardo’s high speed test track in the near future.

Nardo is world renowned for car makers and tuners taking its fastest cars to see what they are really capable of.

In the past, a 1,000bhp Toyota Supra managed to hit 222mph, while the Volkswagen W12 Nardo Coupe concept car hit 217mph on the bowl and averaged 200mph over a 24 hour period.

Edo Competition has developed a name for its modification packages on already ultra-quick supercars.

It has previously got the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 up to 216mph, while last year it revealed its 770bhp Porsche Carrera GT.

We’d anticipate anyone interested in buying the latest 224mph LP640 will have to fork out around £235,000.
