Last week news erupted of a training ground war among Manchester United footballers trying to eclipse each other with the flashiest cars. Rio Ferdinand is renowned for his love of sexy cars, while Cristiano Ronaldo has ordered a Bugatti Veyron. (Watch Ronaldo race a Veyron) And it was reported United’s star striker Wayne Rooney was having difficulty finding a Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster with red seats. But now German tuners Brabus has revealed details of a pearlescent white SLR Roadster with a red trim consisting of more than 7,800 metres of threads. The Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster’s engine has also been improved with the 5.4-litre supercharged V8 engine producing 650bhp – giving it a 0-62mph (100kph) time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 211mph. Race-bred 680bhp Mercedes McLaren SLR On the outside, the bright white SLR Roadster gets a set of 20-inch wheels and a new front bumper designed to push the front down and improve grip and handling. And the price Mr Rooney? The Brabus Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster will set you back £535,000, but you’ll also get a Brabus Ultimate 112 – a sported-up version of the Smart Fortwo cabriolet with identical paint and equipment as part of the deal.
