All-new Ford Ka city car – new details
09 September 2008 This is the stunning new Ford Ka city car which will make its world debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The new Ford Ka is the second generation of the company’s evergreen city runabout which was introduced to the world in 1996. Now Ford has revealed details of its successor, which – for the first time in a Ka – will be offered with a super-frugal 1.3-litre diesel engine returning 67.2mpg. View more images of the new Ford Ka The new Ka features completely new styling and follows the current Ford ‘Kinetic’ design language, as first seen on the Ford Mondeo, and the 2008 Ford Fiesta. And like its Mondeo sibling, the diminutive motor has already made its silver screen debut – the new Ka will star alongside Daniel Craig in this year’s James Bond film Quantum of Solace. The new Ka will also be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine with 67bhp, which Ford claims has “cut fuel consumption by 21 per cent compared to the previous 1.3-litre Ka”. Ford is promising an engaging drive and the company’s “chassis experts” have honed the suspension and steering using a combination of “public roads, proving grounds – and the legendary Nurburgring in Germany”. The Ka comes in four trim levels – Studio, Style, Style+ and Zetec – with the option of a Bluetooth-enabled connectivity kit, six-speaker CD system and heated windscreen and heated seats. Prices have not been announced yet, but expect to pay upwards of £8,000 when the new Ford Ka launches in late 2008, early 2009.
