The Vauxhall Meriva concept car has been unveiled - and will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The Vauxhall Meriva concept showcases the carmaker’s use of interior space and interiors which can be adapted to suit their owner’s needs.

The car’s ‘one-box’ design means it doesn’t have a separate boot or bonnet compartment like a saloon car with a ‘three-box’ shape. This layout provides the Vauxhall Meriva concept with more room for its occupants.

Vauxhall are using the concept to showcase its ‘Flex Doors’ system, where front doors open conventionally, but the back doors are rear-hinged ‘suicide doors’ which can open while the front doors remain closed.

Vauxhall claims these doors make it easier for passengers to get in and out, as they open at the highest point in the car’s roof. The company also suggest the design has safety benefits.

Inside there is Vauxhall’s popular ‘Flex Space’ rear seating system, which folds and detaches in a myriad of ways to allow owners to alternate between greater seating space or load space in a matter of minutes.

The car’s most striking design feature is the ‘wave’ in its side window line, which gives the Meriva a dynamic appearance and Vauxhall claims it gives rear passengers a better view.

Auto Trader will be at the Geneva Motor Show to bring you all the latest news, so be sure to check back from March 4.
