Toyota has given a thorough makeover to the sporty Yaris SR warm hatch and fitted new features to entice owners into the driving seat.

The Toyota Yaris SR is the range-topper for both the 1.3-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engined Yaris.

Satellite navigation and sports kit have been thrown into the mix and the Toyota Yaris SR is £350 more than the equivalent Toyota Yaris T3.

Its 1.3-litre petrol produces 86bhp and 89lb/ft of pulling power, accelerating it from 0-62mph in 11.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 106mph.

The diesel 1.4-litre provides more punch, its 140lb/ft of pulling power endows it a 0-62mph dash of 10.7 seconds and a top speed 3mph more than the petrol.

Integrated into the dash is a removable TomTom satellite navigation unit, which charges and connects to the car’s speakers while docked.

You will be able to tell the car in front is a Toyota SR thanks to its new rear roof spoiler and chrome exhaust tip.

As you step inside there are front scuff plates and an alloy gear knob to remind you of its sporting style.

Equipment also includes nine airbags, electric front windows, remote central locking, air conditioning, front fog lamps and rear seats which Toyota claims fold flat with one-touch.

The Toyota Yaris is on sale now, starting at £10,995 for the 1.3-litre petrol 3-door and rising to £12,995 for the 1.4-litre diesel 5-door with semi automatic transmission.
