The Toyota Hilux Invincible 200 will be the most powerful pick-up on sale in Britain when it goes on sale in July.

Toyota has just announced the new model which gets a Toyota Motor Sport engine performance kit – raising the output of the Hilux Invincible 200 to 194bhp.

That’s just short of the power offered by a Volkswagen Golf GTi.

Even more impressive is the massive 317lb/ft of pulling power which should make the Hilux Invincible 200 a formidable load-lugger.

It uses the 3-litre D-4D engine which previously had a top-power of 169bhp, and matches the standard car’s economy figures despite its extra power.

Models fitted with a manual gearbox can achieve 34mpg, while automatic models manage 30.1mpg.

The choice of gearbox affects carbon dioxide emissions too, with the manual and automatic emitting 219g/km and 246g/km respectively.

This has a costly impact on the automatic, placing it in tax band G with an annual cost of £400, while the manual is in band F with its £210 tax bill.

There are upgrades inside too, with exclusive two-tone leather upholstery, heated front seats, steel mesh front grille and black metallic paint.

Standard features included in the Invincible range include privacy glass, touch screen satellite navigation, scuff plates and metallic finish alloy wheels.

A limited run of 500 Toyota Hilux Invincible 200s will be available, and they go on sale from July 1.

The commercial vehicle on-the-road-price is £21,540 for the manual and £22,640 for the automatic which also features cruise control as standard.
