04 June 2008 These are the first official pictures of the three-door Seat Ibiza Sport Coupe – the sexy new hatch due on sale at the end of the year. View more pictures of the Seat Ibiza Sport Coupe Seat fans will be excited to know the Ibiza Sport Coupe has been designed by none less than Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago designer Luc Donckerwolke. And the technology on the range-topping models is as cutting edge as its looks, thanks to a seven-speed DSG semi-automatic gearbox , which has never been fitted in a hatchback before. The latest Ibiza is also the car fitted with a new chassis designed by Seats parent company the Volkswagen Group. It will form the basis of upcoming Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Fabia models. The carmaker claims the chassis in the Seat Ibiza Sport Coupe has been tuned to offer dynamic handling in keeping with its sporting brand philosophy. When it’s launched later this year it will feature a 1.6-litre petrol engine and two turbocharged diesels: a 1.4-litre and 1.9-litre. The smaller diesel will be available as an efficient Ecomotive model with carbon dioxide emissions of less than 99g/km and fuel consumption of more than 60mpg. Seat has confirmed the Ibiza Sport Coupe will also form the basis of the fast FR and Cupra models with powerful engines and design queues similar to the Bocanegra concept car seen at the Geneva motor show. The Seat Ibiza Sport Coupe will be making its UK debut at the British International Motor Show next month, and we’ll be there, so be sure to check back for all the latest news.
