22 January 2008 Sexy Spanish carmaker Seat is looking to top the fashion polls with this – the new ‘Candy White’ Seat Leon. Industry experts have predicted white to take over as the most popular car colour – thanks to the storming successes of the Apple iPod and Nintendo Wii – and Seat is offering this special ‘Candy White’ paint option on its Leon hatchback. And to complete the hatchback’s stunning looks, the range-topping Seat Leon Cupra will get the additional option of black or white 18-inch alloy wheels. Leading paint supplier DuPont has tracked global car colours for more than 50 years and in its latest survey is tipping white as a ‘trend shifting colour’. Karen Surcina of DuPont said: “The rise in popularity of white and the long reign of silver suggest we can expect a more dramatic shift in the top colour choice.”
And there is a history of successful sales of white cars – including hot-hatches of the 1980s such as the Volkswagen Golf GTi. Steve Robertson of Seat said: “White really could be the new silver – when it comes to fashionable car colours at least. “Buyers increasingly want a car which stands out on the road, giving them instant recognition and differentiation from ‘me too’ shades such as grey and silver”. The Seat Leon – with Candy White paintwork – is available from £12,645. |
