These are the first official photos of the sexy new Renault Laguna Coupe, which launched at the 61st Cannes Film Festival.

The stunning new Renault Laguna Coupe follows on the heels of the hot new Renault Laguna saloon, and will be launched with two new V6 engines at the British Motor Show in July.

And the sleek Renault Laguna Coupe will feature four-wheel-steering – as seen on the Renault Laguna GT – which gently steers the rear wheels to aid handling.

The Laguna Coupe shares its chassis with the new Renault Laguna saloon, and features a new 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine developing 240bhp, which was built in association with Nissan.

This 3.5-litre V6 engine allows the Laguna Coupe to sprint from 0-62mph in less than seven seconds and on to an expected top speed of around 140mph.

And the French carmaker is also offering the Laguna Coupe with a 3-litre diesel engine producing 235bhp and 331lb/ft of pulling power. Renault is fitting its new coupe with the current range of Laguna saloon engines also, including the best-selling 2-litre diesel and petrol engines.

Renault’s new ‘Active Drive’ chassis will keep these engines in check, with the four-wheel-steering system allowing better manoeuvrability at lower speeds and greater handling stability at higher speeds, with traction control (ESP) fitted as standard.

The Renault Laguna Coupe was first unveiled as a concept at the 2007 Geneva motor show, and made its first official outing as a production model at the recent Cannes film festival, driven by Renault president Carlos Ghosn.

And Renault was keen to highlight the Laguna Coupe’s sporting credentials when Renault F1 test drivers Lucas di Grassi and Romain Grosjean lapped the legendary Monaco GP circuit.

Renault has not announced prices for the new Laguna Coupe, but buyers can expect to pay from around £20,000.
