22 February 2008 Top tuners have unveiled a Porsche Cayman with attitude and an enlarged heart – the Gemballa GT 4.0L RS. The standard Porsche Cayman’s 3.4-litre engine has been completely rebuilt and it’s grown in size to a massive 4-litres. But although Gemballa hasn’t announced performance details, we’d expect the GT 4.0L RS to produce around 400bhp and have a 0-62mph time around 4.5 seconds – making it the most powerful Cayman released so far and pushing its performance deep into Porsche 911 territory. While the engineers responsible for the Cayman Gemballa GT 4.0L RS remain quiet about its power output – its body work speaks for itself. It is fitted with a front lip spoiler and large rear wing, creating downforce and stability at high speeds. Shining out beneath the 20-inch racing wheels are large racing brakes clamped by bright yellow calipers. Adjustable sports suspension is fitted, allowing the owner to tweak its stiffness for track or road driving. Inside, the yellow theme continues, lining the dashboard instruments, seat inserts, gear knob, handbrake, steering wheel, door linings and even the sun visors. The cabin also features alloy sports pedals, special carpet and Alcantara. In January, Gemballa announced an unbelievable 850bhp Porsche 911 Turbo – the Gemballa Avalanche GTR 800 EVO-R. Its immense horsepower and 690lb/ft of pulling power made it one of the fastest Porsche’s we had ever seen. With a dual-platform rear wing large enough for a Cessna and deeply louvered bonnet, it had the looks to back up its claimed speed. View our Gemballa Avalanche GTR 800 EVO-R article. |
