The Peugeot 308 CC is almost here – the re-designed hatchback which goes from tin-top to drop-top in 20 seconds.

And, there are lots of new features which separate the Peugeot 308 CC from its predecessor the Peugeot 307 CC and its hatchback cousin.

A wider front and rear axle which places the wheels further apart, larger brakes and a revised electronic stability programme should all make the Peugeot 308 more dynamic to drive.

A new 2-litre HDi diesel engine with 140bhp and a diesel particulate filter to help reduce emissions should be the pick of the range, and the best seller.

From the outside the Peugeot 308 CC stands out thanks to new bumpers and rear LED lights.

The rear bumper now features a racing-style diffuser which gives it a more aggressive stance and should help high speed stability and grip.

For the first time in a Peugeot convertible, the front seats feature heated vents which can direct warm air around the occupant’s shoulders and neck in nippy weather.

And the glovebox and centre armrest which operates with the car’s remote central locking will offer greater security when you leave the roof down.

The front seats now slide forward electrically to allow access to the rear seats, there is deadlocking of the doors and LED lights in the bottom of the door mirrors light up the pavement when you get in and out.

Roll-over hoops, front, chest and pelvis side airbags and side head airbags (which Peugeot claim to be a world first) should make the 308 CC the safest convertible in its class when it’s EuroNCAP crash tested.

The Peugeot 308 CC makes its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in September, so be sure to check back then for all the latest details.
