28 March 2008 Our exclusive photographs show a host of revisions to the current Porsche 911, which look set to be introduced soon. As our man was at a petrol station near Vera, southern Spain, a convoy of Porsche 911s spanning the model line-up filed onto the forecourt. View more exclusive pictures of the Porsche 911s testing On closer inspection it was clear the Porsche 911s were undergoing testing and featured several key design revisions. Each Porsche 911 sported upgraded front lights and taillights with the latest LED technology, for brighter projection and a cutting edge look. Lightly applied masking tape was in place, but offered little disguise to the change in shape of the rear lights. And when our snapper managed to get a look inside he noticed possible revisions to the interior, with extra chrome adorning the cabin. The Porsche 911 Cabriolet test cars were also fitted with polished aluminium roll-over hoops – not found on the current model. One car had no rear seats, with a huge computer taking its place – for testing purposes. The drivers quickly cleaned the Porsche’s windscreens of dirt and grime, indicating they had travelled a large distance. And when our colleague asked one member of the party if he spoke English, the Porsche test drivers quickly returned to their vehicles and sped out of the petrol station. Rumours on the Internet are rife that new Porsche 911 models will also feature uprated engines which produce more power, while using less fuel thanks to direct fuel injection. It is also rumoured the four-wheel-drive Porsche 911 Carrera 4 models will gain a new four-wheel-drive system. The Porsche 911 997 model range was first launched in 2004, and our pictures seem to confirm it will soon benefit from a mid-life facelift. Last month we caught a Ford Kuga in public, well ahead of it going on sale. |
