Details of a hardcore, lightweight 520bhp Nissan GT-R V Spec have been leaked onto the internet.

An American website has claimed performance figures for the Nissan GT-R V Spec have been quietly finalised with power increased by 40bhp to 520bhp and weight reduced by 90kg.

Already a stunningly quick supercar, this increased power and slashed weight should help accelerate the Nissan GT-R V Spec from 0-62mph (100kph) in about 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of almost 200mph.

However, a spokesman for Nissan UK would not confirm or deny these rumours, saying no official details have been released by the Japanese car maker.

The Nissan GT-R has been a phenomenon since details on the BMW M3-priced Lamborghini-beater were released less than two years ago.

It’s brimmed with brilliant technology with the on-board computer screens designed by the man behind the Gran Turismo computer game series.

And the tyres are filled with nitrogen rather than conventional air, which prevent pressure change during high speed driving.

It’s a genuinely practical car as well, sporting a large boot and two adult-sized rear seats – however these are removed for the Nissan GT-R V Spec to keep weight down.

On the track it has shown its prowess lapping the Nürburgring race track in Germany quicker than a Bugatti Veyron in seven minutes 29 seconds.

It’s been claimed by another American blog that the Nissan GT-R V Spec lapped the ‘Ring in an estimate seven minutes 25 seconds with the prototype sporting a new front splitter, rear spoiler and different set of lightweight black alloy wheels.

The standard Nissan GT-R will cost just £52,900 when it goes on sale in the UK in March next year.

We’d anticipate full details of the limited edition V Spec, which should cost an additional £15,000, to be announced some time before that.
