04 July 2008 Some of the world’s most exclusive cars from past and present, including a Ferrari bought for more than £5 million by DJ Chris Evans are on display at the UK’s most exclusive car show. The Salon Prive Concours D’elegance is in its third year and is the number one show in the UK for dream machines with owners entering cars in six different categories from ‘Competition Greats’ with the Jaguar C-Type to ‘Grace and Pace’ with the Ferrari Dino. And celebrities also get involved. Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay has entered his 1956 Porsche 356 Speedster in the ‘Wind in you Hair’ category and 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Coupe for the ‘Competition Greats’ class. Another classic car on show is Hollywood icon James Coburn’s 1960 Ferrari 250 California, a car which hit the headlines a few months back when radio DJ Chris Evans splashed out £5.2 million on it at an auction in Italy. While there is a host of cars from the Thirties to the Seventies, there is also a host of modern day supercars including three Bugatti Veyrons, two race-bred McLaren F1 GTRs and the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe which is yet to go on sale. We were at the event held at the private Hurlington Club, south-west London so don’t forget to come back on Monday for our feature which includes a selection of EXCLUSIVE slide shows. |
