Disney cartoon cars to appear at British motor show
26 June 2008 The stars of Disney’s hit animated movie Cars will make their real-life UK debut at the 2008 British motor show. The animated stars of Cars – including Lightning McQueen, Sally Carrera, Mater and Mack the Truck – will be transformed into real-world custom-made cars. And the stars of Cars will form part of Disney’s British motor show display, which will also include gaming pods, face painting and activities with prizes to be won. Lightning McQueen – voiced in the film by Owen Wilson – is a custom-built car with a fibreglass body on a 1978 Trans Am chassis, while Sally Carrera is a customised Porsche 911. Mater is a custom-built Chevy Dually pick-up truck, and Mack the Truck is a 1985 Mack super-Liner. This year’s 2008 British motor show promises to be one of the hottest in history and organisers are expecting more than half a million people to attend – making it the UK’s biggest show. More than 600 cars will make an appearance at the British motor show, with over 20 global premieres. And the 2008 British motor show is also offering up a host of features to entice show-goers, including the popular Mazda Zoom-Zoom Challenge, where visitors can test-drive two Mazda cars around a purpose built racetrack. Organisers have also laid on a twelve-day music festival with a total of 6,000 tickets on sale every day, with acts including UB40, Meat Loaf, Blondie, Status Quo, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper and jazz legend Jools Holland featuring Marc Almond. |
