Geneva 2009 debuts: Citroen and Kia concepts
05 March 2009
Citroen has chosen Geneva to showcase its Mini-baiting Citroen DS Inside Concept.
And while Citroen is cushioned around the likes of Porsche, Rolls-Royce and Rinspeed it was this little car which really got our attention.

It’s a shame the French car maker hid the sexy supermini in a dark room away from the general public and the rest of its range because the DS Inside Concept is simply stunning.
From its sleek lines and muscular frame to its sporty alloy wheels the DS Inside Concept – headed up by a Brit – heralds a change in Citroen’s design direction.
The Citroen DS Inside Concept is based on next year’s DS3 and will go up against the likes of the Mini range, Alfa MiTo and Ford Fiesta in the premium supermini segment.
Following the DS3 will be the hatchback-sized DS4 and family saloon DS5 as Citroen look to get a better hold of the markets dominated by Ford, Vauxhall and Volkswagen.
It’s still early days for the DS range but early indications are good – we love the Inside Concept and think the premium supermini segment is going to become increasingly important as people look to save money without trading in quality and design flare.
Kia also showcased a supermini concept at Geneva with its new No 3 model.
The No 3 (pictured, right) bears the new Kia face and is more of a mini-MPV than than a straight supermini thanks to its higher roofline.
It also has a really cool top with the windscreen and panoramic roofline seperated by a diagonal split.
The future for a production model of the No 3 could be a success for Kia with the concept proving popular as it sits on top of the Korean car maker's stand in Switzerland.
