The UK’s slowest depreciating cars for 2008 have been named with the diesel-powered Mini topping the list for the second year running.

According to EurotaxGlass’s, a three-year-old Mini 1.4TD in three-door and convertible form with 37,000 miles on the clock will maintain a huge 63.2 per cent of its original cost.

This places it ahead of the 1-litre and 1.4-litre Citroen C1 which hold 61.1 per cent and Ferrari F430 Coupe and Spider which retain 60.9 per cent.

Making up the top five were the Citroen C1’s sister cars the Toyota Aygo and Peugeot 107 which held 60.1 per cent and 57.4 per cent respectively.

The Ferrari F430 wasn’t the only supercar to find a place in the top ten with the Lamborghini Murcielago – 55.2 per cent – and Porsche 911 Carrera 2/4 – 54.8 per cent – placed 8th and 10th respectively.

Other making up the top ten were Smart Fortwo (6th), Seat Leon (7th) and Toyota Prius (9th).

However, it’s bad news for owners of the Alfa 166 which retains just 12 per cent of its value after three years and 37,000 miles.

According to EurotaxGlass’s Adrian Rushmore: “The factors that help make the Mini as close to recession proof as possible in the current used car market are its strong image, reasonable running costs and it high levels of perceived quality.”

Mini 1.4 TD three-door and Convertible – 63.2 per cent
