New servicing deal for Mini

New servicing deal for Mini - News image

11 November 2004

Mini is preparing a top-up' servicing package to offer customers when their five-year fixed maintenance deals run out. An overwhelming 98% of Mini buyers opt for the tlc pack, which covers all servicing parts and labour costs for five years or 50,000 miles.

However, this servicing bundle will run out in 18 months' time for the first Minis sold in Britain - so the company is readying a new package to extend the deal, What Car? can reveal.

Although the details haven't been finalised, it is likely to offer a further two or more years' maintenance for a one-off payment. But insiders admit that it will probably cost more than the heavily subsidised £100 five-year deal currently offered to new-car buyers.

The move is good news for Mini owners, who will continue to benefit from good-value servicing and low depreciation on their cars. It's also good news for BMW because it ensures that every Mini is kept within the franchised dealer network, rather than at independent garages.

The whole idea of tlc was to make sure that buyers came to us to get their cars serviced,' said our source. We were worried that customers might assume that BMWs were expensive to maintain and this would put them off the Mini.'
