Official photos of new ‘Gullwing’ Mercedes

After months of spy shots and rumours, Mercedes has revealed details on its new supercar – the Mercedes SLS AMG ‘Gullwing’.
Replacing the Mercedes McLaren SLR as the flagship model, the SLS AMG will get a 6.3-litre V8 engine developing 571bhp.
This will give the Mercedes SLS AMG provisional performance figures of 0-62mph (100kph) in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 195mph.
While a way off the top speed of many current supercars, Mercedes is expecting its new model to go further between fill-ups – with the SLS AMG averaging 21.6mpg.
The Mercedes SLS AMG will sit at the top of the Mercedes performance ladder but will fall short in terms of oomph compared to the 617bhp SLR McLaren which will hit 62mph in 3.7 seconds and run on to 208mph.
The photos released by Mercedes are official spy shots so the full design of the new SLS AMG isn’t too clear but it will have the classic Gullwing doors as seen on the Mercedes 300 SL of the 1950s.
With a body made entirely of aluminium, the Mercedes SLS AMG hits the scales at just 1,620kgs with a 48:52 weight distribution.
Mercedes says testing of the new SLS AMG will be completed by the end of the year with the new Gullwing going on sale this time next year.
