Mercedes SL 65 AMG Black Series for sale

Mean, mad, super-rare and unfeasibly fast – that’s the Mercedes SL 65 AMG Black Series.

Just 12 of these 670bhp supercars will be sold in the UK making the SL 65 AMG Black a future classic – and Auto Trader has one for sale.

Luxury dealer Tom Hartley has a black model with 1,900 miles on the clock.

With 670bhp and 737lb/ft of pulling power from a 6-litre V12 engine, the SL65 Black is the most powerful production model by the fabled AMG decision.

As a result it will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 199mph. Well 200mph-plus is a bit common these days.

To stop the car at these speeds, the AMG gets a set of 390mm disc brakes which are bigger than the wheels on a standard Ford Focus.

It’s the ultimate incarnation of Mercedes ultimate convertible series. But to make it a better driver’s car and keep the weight down, Mercedes gave the Black a fixed carbon fibre roof.

A carbon fibre spoiler is concealed within the bootlid and extends by 12cm at 75mph. (“It must be faulty officer…”)

The AMG Black’s power is transferred to its rear wheels via a five-speed automatic which has four different settings: C, S, M1 and M2 with the latter 25 per cent faster than M1.

It’s basically the maddest, baddest SL ever built and with times as they are it will be a while before something as menacing and brutal looking will come out of the company’s Affalterbach offices.

You can get your hands on this SL 65 AMG Black Series for £265,000 – a £13,000 premium over its initial factory price. Well it is a special car after all.
