Mercedes steering fault recall
22 September 2003 Just 16 cars are affected in all, some of which have not yet been delivered to their new owners, but the manufacturer has found that there is the potential for steering control to be lost. Mercedes says a steering coupling nut may not have been tightened sufficiently on the cars. In some cases this could result in the steering gear becoming detached from the steering column. Owners are being contacted with the offer of free checks and remedial work. Mercedes says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the potential defect.
