19 March 2004 Bigger and sportier than its predecessor, the new SLK features a quicker folding metal roof which robs less space from the boot when stowed away. Entry-level 200K models use a 163bhp 1.8 supercharged unit, while the 350 packs a new 272bhp 3.5-litre V6 and is priced from £34,270. For those after even more power a 5.5-litre V8 has been squeezed under the bonnet of the all-new roadster. The 360bhp car will set you back £49,570 when it arrives in March next year. All cars come with an extra gear ratio for their gearbox, whether it's the six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic that's delivering power to the rear wheels of the two-seater. Air-conditioning is standard across the board, but the 'Airscarf' heated vents in the headrest will be a cost option for every model. |
