This is the Mazda Kiyora – a concept city car which will make its debut at the 2008 Paris International Motor Show.

The concept Mazda Kiyora – which translates as ‘clean and pure’ – features the company’s new four-cylinder direct injection engine which claims to offer “excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions”.

Mazda’s designers used water as the design theme for the concept Kiyora, and the city car – about the same size as a Ford Ka or Toyota Aygo – is based on an all-new platform with a low weight and high level of safety.

The Kiyora also uses styling cues from Mazda’s ‘Nagare’ design, and follows the stunning Mazda ‘Ryuga’, ‘Hakaze’, ‘Taiki’ and ‘Kazamai’ concept cars.

Another one of Mazda’s concept cars also follows the ‘Nagare’ design theme – the 450bhp rotary-engined Mazda Furai racer.

The Mazda Furai made an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and wowed show-goers as it stormed up the famous hill.

Joining the concept Kiyora on Mazda’s stand at the 2008 Paris International Motor Show will be the face-lifted Mazda MX-5, alongside the Mazda 6 and Mazda 2, which both feature new engines.

The Mazda 6 will debut the new 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine while the Mazda 2 – which shares many components with the new 2008 Ford Fiesta – will be powered by a MZ-CD 1.6-litre diesel engine.

We’ll be attending the 2008 Paris International Motor Show, so check back for more updates.
