New Mazda 5 announced
03 December 2007 The all-new Mazda 5 will be available with electric sliding doors when it goes on sale in January. The Mazda 5 will be the only car in its class to offer rear-sliding doors, and the 2008 model will offer optional power-sliding doors which open and close in less than five seconds. Under the bonnet, the Japanese carmaker has added an all new 2-litre petrol engine to provide greater pulling power at a lower engine speed. And a new five-speed automatic transmission is being offered for the first time in the Mazda 5. Mazda claim all models in the 2008 line-up will deliver improved fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions. Mazda has also revised the suspension settings on the 2008 model to “enhance ride comfort and maximum stability when cornering at high speeds.” Inside, the new Mazda 5 features a DVD navigation system with a 7-inch multifunctional touch screen, allowing drivers to use its rear-view camera when parking. The interior also features several noise-reducing additions, including insulation sheeting within the roof liner to reduce road noise. Fans of the MPV will recognise the familiar Mazda styling, with the 2008 model gaining new front and rear bumpers, a revised front grille and a choice of seven new exterior colours. The new Mazda 5 will make its European debut at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy on Wednesday, and will go on sale in UK Mazda showrooms in January 2008. |
