Lexus to join supercar elite
11 January 2007 Luxury Japanese car maker, Lexus has given the strongest hint yet it will produce a 200mph supercar. Its LF-A concept was first shown in 2005, but the latest incarnation is "much closer to what Lexus would bring to market", according to its The LF-A concept is powered by a high-revving, 500bhp V10 engine and Lexus' say "a top speed of 200 mph not only possible, but probable". Lexus has also pulled the wraps of its first high performance saloon. The IS-F is powered by a 400bhp, 5-litre V8 engine and is capable of a 0-60mph time of less than five seconds. With the IS-F, Lexus have answered concerns it was doing nothing to challenge performance cars from BMW and Audi. Lexus have confirmed the IS-F will go on sale in early 2008 and prices will be announced nearer the time.
