As with most of his car reviews, Jeremy Clarkson spent the first half of his film laying into the 2006 Jaguar XKR.

But this left the TV star with the remaining five minutes of the feature to describe the Jaguar XKR as ‘brilliant’ and complimenting the handling by saying ‘it’s the easiest car in the world to drive if you’re a lunatic’.

Using a supercharged 4.2-litre V8 engine, the Jaguar XKR produces 420bhp and 413lb/ft of pulling power.

Coupled with a six-speed semi-automatic gearbox, the Jag will accelerate from 0-62mph (100kph) in 4.9 seconds before being limited to 155mph.

As an ex-demonstrator car Jaguar would have maintained the XKR impeccably over the 33,500 miles the British sports car has covered in its 18 months on UK roads, regularly servicing it and fitting new tyres when required.

Inside, the Jaguar XKR gets leather seats, full electrics, sat-nav, Bluetooth and a heated front windscreen.

Other luxuries include front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitors while the bright red Jag’s wheel arches house a set of 20-inch alloy wheels.

Eighteen months ago when the Jaguar was new it would cost £73,000, but after a year-and-a-half and 33,000 miles, it’s on the market for just £46,500.
