New Jaguar X-Type announced
12 October 2007 The Jaguar X-Type has been updated, with a freshened look and new automatic transmission. It is the first time the Jaguar X-Type has been offered with an automatic gearbox mated to its 2.2-litre diesel engine. The ‘box has six-speeds which can be chosen sequentially by the driver. The 2.2D automatic accelerates from 0-60mph in 9.5 seconds and has a top speed of 129mph, while managing a combined fuel consumption of 41mpg. The Jaguar X-Type gets a mesh grille and re-designed front and rear bumpers. The vehicle badges, including the ‘growler’ front emblem have been updated with the latest designs. To round off the updated look, door mirrors now feature integrated indicator lights, and there are two new alloy wheel designs in 17 or 18-inch. The interior has new seats, door trim designs and instrument dials. Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity has been improved and DAB radio is available as an option. Two interior styles are available, sports pack and luxury pack. Both offer ten-way adjustable front seats with leather coverings. Trim highlights included in the luxury pack are a walnut veneer for the facia, gear knob, steering wheel and door trims, while the sport pack replaces the walnut with piano black wood and carbon fibre detailing. The X-Type is available with a 2-litre petrol, 2-litre diesel, 2.2-litre diesel, 2.5-litre petrol and 3-litre petrol engine. It goes on sale from March 2008 with prices starting at £21,500 for the 2-litre diesel saloon and £22,500 for the 2.2-litre diesel automatic. All X-Type variants will also be available as an estate.
