Jaguar has released prices of its new XK coupe and convertible models today, the same day the model was officially launched at the Detroit Motor Show.

Coupe models will be priced from £58,955, while you'll need to find £64,955 for the convertible version. The cars fall into insurance groups 19E and 20E respectively.

Standard equipment in both cars includes a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle gearshift, touch-screen satellite-navigation system, 18-inch alloy wheels, a cruise control system with ASL (active speed limiter), and 10-way adjustable heated seats.

The new XK comes with a 4.2-litre V8 engine developing 300bhp, which powers the car to 60mph in 5.9 seconds in the coupe and six seconds in the convertible. Both have a top speed limited to 155mph.

Jaguar also claims the convertible is 50% stiffer than the previous XK, while also being lighter, which should relate to better handling and greater fuel efficiency. The convertible has an electrically operated roof, which stows the roof in 18 seconds.

New XKs also feature a pedestrian safety device, a pyrotechnic deployable bonnet which creates a cushioning effect between the bonnet and the engine should the car strikes a pedestrian.

The XK goes on sale in the UK in mid-March.
