Fire risk prompts Jag XJ recall
19 August 2003 Engineers found that a power-steering hose may rub against alternator cables, potentially causing a short circuit. In the most serious cases this could lead to a fire in the fascia trim above the driver's footwell, but owners may also experience oil leaks and the loss of servo-assistance to the steering. Jaguar now wants to check the location of pipework and cabling on 16,389 cars built between October 1997 and June 2000. Remedial work will be carried out free of charge. The manufacturer said there have been no accidents or injuries resulting from the potential fault. |
