15 April 2004 The British manufacturer says its X-type compact exec will remain the baby of its range. It will concentrate instead on developing larger models, including a stretched-wheelbase XJ luxury car, which is due to go on sale this September, as well as replacements for the S-type executive car and XK coupe and cabriolet which will begin appearing from the end of next year. Although some prestige hatches such as the Audi A3 and Mercedes C-class Sports Coupe enjoy impressive residual values, Jaguar believes that introducing a smaller model could devalue the brand and affect resale values of its existing models. |
