Jaguar satisfies US drivers
19 May 2005 The manufacturer was the highest-rated European manufacturer in the Initial Quality Survey for the second year in a row, and moved into second place behind Toyota. Toyota dominated the survey, which looks at vehicle quality after cars have been with owners for 90 days. The X-type recorded a significant 37-point improvement over last year's results to pull the marque up the overall rankings, while Jaguar's Halewood factory in the UK won the Gold Plant Quality Award. Results in the latest European JD Power survey, published exclusively by What Car? in the UK last month, have been creditable but nowhere near as good as the company's performance in the US. While Jaguar fared better than average in the overall rankings in the UK survey, it fell outside the top 10 and was outperformed by European rivals such as Saab, Audi, Volvo, Mini, BMW and Skoda, which came second to Toyota. |
